Nea Talbot

Position:
Teacher & Garden Instructor

Graduation Date: May, 2011

Degree Received: Agroecology & Sustainable Agriculture (BS)

After graduating:
I relocated to the British Virgin Islands, where in conjunction with a family member established Mountain Herb & Flower, a micro-green, herb and tropical flower farm on one acre of land.

My current situation is:
Running Mountain Herb & Flower, where we continue to expand the varieties we provide to an increasingly diverse client base including high-end restaurants, private chefs and luxury yachts. In addition, I teach primary P.E. and I.T. at an I.B. school on Tortola where I also founded a gardening club for ages 4-6.

Proudest achievements since graduation:
Establishing Mountain Herb & Flower. Expanding opportunities for local children to explore gardening and food through clubs and summer school programs. Returning to university to obtain M.A. in Education.

Lessons Learned:
Don't underestimate your potential. Work hard at what you love and you will succeed.

Would you say your SD degree prepared you for life after college? Why or why not?:
Yes, but you must do everything you can while in college to get as much hands on experience as possible.
