The B.S. in Community, Regional, and Global Development is for people who want to work collaboratively with communities to address today's most pressing social, economic, and environmental challenges. Whether you're passionate about environmental justice, community health, affordable housing, climate resilience, or global development, you'll learn how meaningful change emerges through participation, partnership, collaboration, and collective action. 

Through local, regional, and global perspectives, you'll explore how communities build resilience, organize and advocate for their needs, and shape their own futures. You'll develop the skills to engage diverse stakeholders, facilitate community-driven processes, and support development efforts that are rooted in local knowledge, priorities, and lived experiences. 

What You'll Learn 

Sustainable and equitable development depends on listening, collaboration, and shared decision-making. In this program, you'll develop skills in participatory action research, community organizing and civic engagement, community-led development, environmental and social justice, climate resilience and adaptation, stakeholder engagement and facilitation, and critical analysis and collaborative problem-solving. 

Learning Beyond the Classroom 

Community development is rooted in relationships, shared learning, and collective action. Through community-based projects, internships, participatory research, and partnerships with local and global organizations, you'll work alongside diverse stakeholders to explore community-led approaches to addressing real-world challenges. These experiences will help you develop the skills to listen deeply, build meaningful partnerships, facilitate collaborative decision-making, and support development efforts rooted in local knowledge, community priorities, and shared goals. Along the way, you'll learn how engaged partnerships and participatory approaches can foster more just, equitable, and sustainable outcomes. 

Career Pathways 

Graduates pursue careers focused on strengthening communities and advancing social and environmental well-being, including community and economic development, community health initiatives, affordable housing advocacy, environmental justice organizations, climate resilience and adaptation planning, disaster preparedness, recovery, and community rebuilding, cooperative and social enterprise development, international development and humanitarian work, nonprofit leadership and community engagement, and government and public service.
